Judge Judith Gische
Are you kidding me? So Judge Judith Gische from New York has decided in a 21 page ruling that due to a lack of funding available, the Advantage Program in NYC can definitely be terminated. This program provides rent subsidies to help homeless people transition from emergency shelters in NCY. Now I think I can pull out a sneak peek from my novel so you can see where I'm exactly coming from. But before that, let me share with you what the Legal Aid Society attorney Steven Banks thinks about this whole thing, according to Reuters. Attorney Steven Banks believes that  if NYC does end up cutting these rent subsidies, the city can wind up paying even more to shelter those homeless families, after all.

I personally believe that homeless transitional programs are extremely good, and I also think that they could potentially even help reduce crime in the streets. Now, the Legal Aid Society plans on appealing the ruling. Although payments will not stop immediately, still, a decision for now has been made. Let's spread the word and create more awareness on this case! Check out my never before seen unedited and unpolished sneak peek related to this post:

Good morning everyone! I found this very interesting post on Patch.com  but it applies mostly to those who live in Connecticut, so if you can please share this link on your social media profile it would be great! As most of you know, homelessness and other life events are topics being touched in the novel.  As I work on finishing the book, one of my favorite activities is to help create awareness of different events that support good causes! Well this time, I'd like to talk about the Stand Down 2011!

The Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs  will be holding the Stand Down 2011 event in September, and today they need your help! Stand Down 2011 helps homeless and veterans in need, so what a great way for those who can, make a difference in their lives! They will be collecting items such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, disposable razors, underwear, and some more! For the complete list and instructions   visit this link. Items will be collected until August 29th! Don't forget to check out more exciting links on the right side of this blog!

Homeless man Ken Goslin (1963 - 2011) RIP. (The Tennessean)
Ken Goslin, a homeless man from Tennessee will be buried in a tie dye shirt after passing away this last Wednesday, according  to The Tennessean. The cause: brain cancer. Ken Goslin died in the company of his friends at the short age of 48, but most of his adult life might not have seemed too short, since he had been struggling for a long time with homelessness. Even when the cancer had taken away his ability to speak and walk, Ken Goslin was still able to communicate with everyone else through writing and texting! Last April he was interviewed for the same source; and that's when Ken Goslin confessed that he was a believer and that he knew that he was here for a reason.

Not only I think that Ken Goslin came to this world to show us that being a believer can keep  souls strong but he also came to remind us that faith is something that we can lean on and live for, even when our hopes can sometimes seem to be down.

We will be able to feel with intensity  scenes from a character who becomes homeless on the novel. Ken Goslin confessed that what helped him fight was faith, but what purpose  did the character lived for  when faced with homelessness? Find out when you read the story!
